Class Information

Thanks to Joe Calzaghe, Ricky Hatton and Amir Khan boxing is big news again. If you want to demonstrate you know a jab from an upper cut join this class.

Classes last for one hour and start off with a vigorous warm up comprised of running, jumps, shadow boxing, push ups and sit ups. Gary will then demonstrate a series of punches and combinations and pair students up in order for them to work on their technique using pads and gloves.

Students will also be pushed to put combinations together at a faster speed, whilst maintaining their balance and good footwork and posture. This not only helps improve their stamina but will also stand them in good stead when sparring with other students. Those attending the class will be paired with those of a similar ability and the emphasis of the class is on technique rather than strength.

This class is aimed at beginners or those at an intermediate level and, as with all our lessons a mixture of men and women attend. Students wear tracksuit bottoms/shorts and t-shirts/vests to the class and there are also boxing gloves at the gym that you’re welcome to borrow. However, if you decide that you’re going to train regularly you’ll probably want to consider buying your own, plus some hand wraps and a gumshield.
