Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ)
Class Information
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) students can take part in either our beginner, intermediate, advanced or mixed lessons.
Beginner only sessions are for those new to BJJ or for white belts that want to re-learn some of the basics. These classes run on a continuous basis so students are welcome to join at any time. Once the basic techniques/positions have been learnt, students move on to our intermediate and/or mixed sessions before joining advanced lessons.
All classes start with a vigorous conditioning warm up and instructors then move on to demonstrate techniques, set ups and positions. Students will then drill these and use them in the sparring that follows.
Equipment
We train with gi which, as you can see from our BJJ photos, is a two piece judo-like suit and belt.
If you’re new to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and don’t have a gi then it’s ok to train in thin, flexible tracksuit bottoms or shorts and a t-shirt for the first few classes. Please note that there should be no zips, buttons or pockets on any item of clothing though!
Trial Lessons
Potential students are welcome to try out one of our classes for free. Just click on the ‘Free First Class’ button and let us know when you’d like to come down. Please note though that we do ask for at least 2 days notice.
