Children’s Classes

Class Information

Children’s Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes will start on Tuesday 13 September and take place during term times every Tuesday and Thursday from 5-6pm.

Sessions will be for 5-9 year olds and 10-14 year olds. Whilst some parts of the class will see students, of all ages, come together for the majority of the session the group will be split into their relevant age groups.

Classes will consist of a warm up, technique and position drills followed by free sparring and games. These lessons are specifically designed for children in order to develop their confidence, self esteem, balance, concentration, co-operation, co-ordination and, of course, fitness.

These sessions will be fun, friendly, and educational, and give children the chance to make new friends and learn new skills. They will also see the importance of working with others and respecting fellow students’ needs and abilities.

Each lesson will start with a warm up consisting of a mix of stretching exercises which improve flexibility and some cardio exercises. Depending on students’ ages and abilities we will then cover basic Brazilian Jiu Jitsu moves and, for older ones, look at how certain combinations are put together.

These classes are a great addition to any child’s education and we hope that what they learn here will positively impact other areas of their lives. Parents are encouraged to stay and watch the lessons and see what progress is being made.

Sessions will be led by Marco who aims to make each class fun and exciting and show how Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a great addition to more traditional sports.

For the first few classes, it’s fine for children to wear thin, flexible tracksuit bottoms and a t-shirt. However, please ensure there are no zips or buttons on either item.

After this (and once you know your child enjoys Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) they will need a gi. We sell these, plus belts, at the gym.

Other costs

Children are welcome to try out a class for free. Simply send us an email and let us know when you would like to come down. If your child wishes to continue training then classes cost £8 each or £50 per month for 2 classes every week.
