Class Information
Learn how to combine techniques from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, such as take downs, chokes, locks and submissions, with strikes, clinches and kicks from Muay Thai.
Our MMA classes are a fantastic way to get fit, challenge yourself and prepare for any situation. We recommend that students taking part in these lessons continue to train in Muay Thai and/or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in order to hone their skills and build on their levels of fitness.
MMA is not just for those with ambitions to fight at Cage Rage, the afore mentioned combination of classes are great for everyone, and if you have little or no experience of martial arts you can start off by including our beginner only BJJ and Muay Thai classes in your training schedule and adding in our MMA class at a later date.
Whatever your goals are though, from improving your cardio to competing in MMA competitions, we’ll work with you to help you achieve them – just come down and speak with Luiz.
In BJJ we train with gi most of the time, apart from on Fridays. In Muay Thai normal gear is fine: shorts, tracksuit bottoms, t-shirts etc, and whilst we have some boxing gloves, head protectors and shin/instep protectors at the gym if you decide to train regularly you should know the following.
The afore-mentioned equipment is used by everyone here so, once you’ve decided that Muay Thai is definitely the sport for you, we would recommend you buy your own, and purchase equipment that fits you and your needs perfectly. You’ll also need some hand wraps, a gumshield and, if you’re in our mixed class either a groin protector, if you’re a guy, or chest protector, if you’re a girl.
Cross Training
For those who want to train in a combination of disciplines but possibly not just Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai and/or MMA then you’re welcome to do so. Our payment programmes enable you to take part in any combination of classes so please just email us for further information.
